My Technology Artifacts
Weebly Portfolio Website
This website was created using weebly.com. It was made over several weeks taking baby steps on putting each page together and adding new things on a weekly basis. It was pretty cool to learn how to put a my own website together. With technology being the way it is these days a normal person visits at least three webpages a day. Most websites are very interactive and intricate and every time I look at one I always wonder how they are put together and who creates them, is it easy or hard? So this project was pretty interesting to me because I already had the interest on how to develop a website. My website in the future can help me communicate with parents and students and other faculty. I can post what the lesson plans are for the week, any home work and projects or tests coming up. In creating this website I will be able to contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community.
HISTORY TIMELINE
This artifact is a timeline dedicated to the events that led up to the Civil War. It goes through the major historical events that happened in the years prior to the Civil War that caused those first shots to be fired at Fort Sumter that was the beginning of the Civil War. I created it using the timeline creator through hstry.co. I used pictures that were downloaded form the internet of different important, people, places and events of the events leading up to the Civil War and my vast knowledge of information due to my interest in the Civil War. History is all about dates and events in the past and the people who were involved in those dates and events. Timelines come up in history class almost daily and could see me using this website in my future classroom to create timelines to be used during lessons as well as having students create their own timelines to submit to me. By creating this artifact and using it in my future classroom I exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others.
Evernote Notebooks
This artifact is a set of notebooks going through the years of the Civil War. It starts with Pre-Civil War history, dates, events and key people then moves into the years of the Civil War and the Post-Civil War era known as Reconstruction. Students will learn about what events and people had a hand in the Civil War and what happened after the years of fighting to rebuild the country. I created it using the Evernote website. I created a different notebook for each era, including vocabulary, maps, diagrams, fun review activities and people who partook in the Civil War. I filled it with information from my years of studying the Civil War along with pictures and maps found on the internet as well as worksheets found on teaching websites. I could use a project like this in my future classrooms to organize lesson plans, along with reviews, tests, worksheets and handouts for the school year. The information would be easy to access and display for students to see and interact in classroom discussions. My creating and using the Evernote Notebook application I can evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.
