Socrative Quiz
This artifact came from creating an assessment on the socrative.com website. This website is an online forum where teachers can create reviews, tests and quizzes to assess students. They can be how ever many questions long that the teacher wants. The questions can be answered three different ways; short answer, multiple choice or true and false. The teacher creates the assessment inputting the answers, then the students can log in with the assessment code that the teacher gives them and they begin to take the assessment. The teacher can look on an interactive spreadsheet while they are taking the assessment to see who is answering correctly or incorrectly, and if someone is moving considerably slow or really fast through the assessment. When everyone is done the teacher can download the results on a spreadsheet to see how everyone did. The teacher can assess whether they can move on from they have been learning, if the students did well on the assessment or if they need to go over and review if the scores were not so great. And because the scores are individualized she can see if maybe just one or two students may need individual tutoring or help outside of class. I could definitely see myself using this website and any others like this to assess the students in my classroom. It could be used for a grade or even for a fun review. I would however like to make it more interactive with maybe pictures of videos that correlate with the questions. For example, posting a picture of George Washington and having them name who it is. With this website I would be able to up hold the standard to provide students with multiple and varied formative and summarative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting date to inform learning and teaching.
EVALUATING EDUCATIONAL APPS
This artifact is a power point presentation on Evaluating Educational Apps for smart phones, tablets and computers. I created it with power point from microsoft office. After reading "Ipad in Education:Evaluating apps for the Classroom" and "Educational Apps:4 Pillars for Evaluating Classroom Technology" I used the standards they discuss to evaluate two educational apps that I currently use and what I might use in my future classroom activities. I evaluated Kahoot, an educational assessment app and Ripped Apart: A Civil War Mystery, an educational game for learning information about the Civil War. I used information that I have learned from using both of the apps and information and pictures that I researched about the apps. I would use this project in my future classroom by using the standards in these two articles to evaluate educational apps that I might use for lessons and assessments to make sure they are up to the standards of my students and works in line with my lesson plans. With this standard I will develop technology enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning and assessing their own progress.
ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY
This artifact is a power point presentation that goes through the different laws and acts that help protect people with disabilities. Theses laws are The American Disabilities Act, Individual with Disability Act Laws and the Assistive Technology Act. These acts protect people with disabilities in education, school and everyday life. I created it using information found online through the ADA website and other institutions linked to The American Disabilities Act website. I put the information together on a power point presentation with images found through Bing that are associated with the specific topics. I would use this project in my future classroom or career by furthering my knowledge on the topic more and developing a more indepth presentation to maybe share with future colleagues who might not know about the accommodations that can be given to students and people with disabilities and to future students who would like to know more or help with students who have disabilities. This artifact will help me customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.
